Continuous sleep issues and inability to enter deep sleep

For the past 10 weeks, I’ve been struggling with an inability to fall or stay asleep, and when I do manage to sleep, it’s light and unrefreshing. I’ve been to the hospital and seen doctors, but their efforts haven’t resolved the issue. I feel terrible every day, like I’m barely surviving, and I spend nights awake in bed, unable to shut down. I’ve lost the ability to yawn, which seems odd but adds to my discomfort. I’m looking for any advice on what might help because traditional treatments and medications haven’t made a difference.

Have you tried various sleep improvement methods like taking magnesium and l-theanine, cutting out caffeine and alcohol, or increasing physical activity? There’s an app called OptiSelf Sleep that might help you track what affects your sleep. Personally, cold plunging has surprisingly helped me sleep better. Good luck finding what works for you!

I’ve been going through something similar since last October, with trouble falling asleep and only managing a few hours each night. Once awake, I just lie there until morning. I rarely feel tired during the day, which is fortunate, but it’s still frustrating. I hope it’s just a phase that will pass soon.

It’s reassuring to hear from someone with similar issues. Have you found any medication helpful for this?

My doctor prescribed Trazodone, an antidepressant that also aids in sleep. It’s been a few days, and I’m managing to get 3-4 hours of sleep now.

I’ve found adult bedtime stories quite effective. I use apps like Let’s Get Sleepy by Slumber Studios, although I had to subscribe to avoid ads interrupting my sleep. Also, there might be underlying issues contributing to your condition. For me, it was grief and depression affecting my sleep, and addressing these helped.

You might want to explore some herbal and supplement options for insomnia. L-Theanine, CBN + CBD gummies, Magnesium Taurate, Valerian Root, Reishi Mushroom, and Chamomile are all known to help with sleep issues. They each have properties that promote relaxation and can improve sleep quality.

Exposing yourself to sunlight first thing in the morning has helped me reset my sleep cycle.
