Do you struggle sleeping in a bed with another person?

I usually sleep alone, but sleeping at my girlfriend’s place can be challenging. She has a queen bed, but also two dogs that sometimes disrupt my sleep by waking up early or jumping on the bed at night. I’ve tried moving to the side of the bed, which helps a bit, but I still don’t get a full night’s rest. We’ve been dating for three months, and I’m still adjusting. Any suggestions on how to improve this situation? Should I consider sleep aids like ZzzQuil or melatonin?

It’s definitely a struggle for me too. I’ve noticed I sleep better alone, especially since I’m a hot sleeper and having someone next to me makes it worse. My partner can sleep through anything, which I envy!

I get that; it’s tough when your sleeping styles don’t match. Sometimes I think I sleep better on the couch than in a bed with someone else!

I face a similar issue with my boyfriend’s dogs. They are large and take up a lot of space, plus the dog hair is a nuisance. We make them sleep on the floor when I’m over, which helps.

Two dogs in bed can definitely complicate sleeping arrangements. It might be worth discussing sleeping arrangements concerning the pets to improve your rest.

Absolutely, I love her and the cuddling, but the dog situation is something I’m still getting used to. Looking for a gentle way to address this.

Clear communication about your sleep needs is key. Maybe try setting boundaries for the dogs at night?

I’m not currently using any sleep aids, but I’m open to suggestions that don’t involve medications.

Wouldn’t it be great if those twin beds from the 1950s sitcoms were more popular today? Seems like a practical solution for couples with different sleeping habits.

I’ve tried using a twin bed when having someone over, and it’s definitely not big enough for two. It ends up being more uncomfortable than the queen bed with dogs.
