Have You Ever Slept in an Airport Hotel? How Was That?

Hey everyone,

I’ve always been curious about the experience of staying in a hotel inside an airport but I am a light sleeper and am concerned I will get woken up by planes taking off and landing. However, I really like the idea of being at the airport so you don’t have to worry about travel delays for a morning flight. I have some mild travel anxiety regarding getting to the airport on time, as I always worry about delays or TSA screenings. Being able to leisurely make my way through security and enjoy a relaxed breakfast sounds appealing.

Have any of you stayed in an airport hotel? How did that go? Could you hear every flight that departed during the night?

What airports have hotels inside of them? I’ve heard of nap rooms in a few terminals, but not full-fledged hotels. I’ve stayed at “airport hotels” near the airport, but your post emphasizes “inside”.

The international airports I’ll be traveling between (Dallas, TX and Orlando, FL) both have Hyatt Regency hotels attached to or within a terminal.

Interesting! I’ll keep an eye out for these. Sounds convenient but likely expensive.

Detroit has a nice one right in the terminal.

Small noise machines can help.

I’ve had both good and not-so-good experiences. Read the reviews; some hotels have great soundproofing, while others don’t. Also, check the arrival/departure schedules to see when there are fewer flights overnight.

Thanks, this is helpful!

We stayed at the Sofitel in Heathrow airport and never had an issue; it’s a lovely hotel.
