How do I track my sleep?

How do I track my sleep? I sleep about 9 hours a night and also take a nap after lunch, however I am always tired during the day, and I thought that there is probably something wrong with the quality of my sleep. I don’t wake up during the night and I don’t have trouble falling asleep, I have an active lifestyle, I train 4 times a week for years and lately I’m also on a low kcal diet, so I don’t think it’s a problem of lethargy that was emphasized in the bulk phases. So basically, how do I understand if I sleep qualitatively at night?

SleepCycle is a free app and fairly decent at giving you a good baseline. Apple Watch 8+ is a good but more expensive option if you want to get really granular.

One of the reasons I got an Apple Watch was for this, pretty insightful imo into what proportions of sleep I got.

Fitbit and Apple watches are great. Any smart watch should do it too.

I wanted to buy the Fitbit Charge 5 or 6, or the Fitbit Inspire 3.

I have the Inspire 3. I think it’s pretty good for sleep. Not so great for hard, sweaty exercise. At least my copy doesn’t register my heart rate accurately when I’m sweaty. I bought it for sleep anyway. There is a YouTuber (The Quantified Scientist) who tests watches for accuracy, and from memory, the Inspire 3 was about 65-70% as accurate as a proper sleep study. Which is good enough for me, as no watch is 100%.

Exactly, I saw the reviews from his channel, and the Charge 5 or 6 seem to be slightly better, as well as the Fitbit Luxe.

Yeah. Just depends on how much you want to spend, I guess :).

Most sleep studies I know use the Garmin Venu SQ - it’s like €90 on eBay. There are better ones if you can afford them, like the Vivosmart 5.

I have the Versa 3. It’s great to me!

Be careful with Apple devices as they use their own definition of sleep staging, which does not comply with the clinical one. Most sleep studies use Garmin or Fitbit.

@Archer
I personally have a Fitbit Versa 3 and it’s great.

If you’re an Android user, a Google Nest Hub.

I’ve found the Fitbit Charge 5 is good for sleep. Sometimes it thinks I’m sleeping for a little longer than I actually am, but it’s usually quite accurate. You need to use it every night for a couple of weeks for it to be accurate though. It needs to establish your baselines, like your resting BPM, SpO2, body temperature, etc.

Oura ring is great and the battery life is way better than Apple Watch.

I agree, but unfortunately €300 is too much for me.
