Every day, I wake up too early because my family is really loud. They shout, slam doors, and switch on all the lights. Despite discussing it with them, nothing has changed. I use a white noise machine, but it’s not enough. I plan to move out once I save enough money. Until then, I need to find a way to get some decent sleep because this situation is affecting my health. Does anyone have any suggestions for products or methods that might help me sleep better?
Try using earplugs or headphones to block out the noise.

Absolutely! Initially, I found earplugs uncomfortable, but after discovering designer ones, my sleep improved dramatically. They’re worth trying!
@Vesper
Designer earplugs? Those seem just like regular earplugs to me. What makes them special?
@Vesper
Agreed. It took some trial and error, but once I found the right earplugs, they really helped.
I face the same issue sometimes. I suggest combining cheap foam earplugs with loud brown noise through headphones. This setup does wonders for me.
You might want to consider earplugs or even using a fan as a noise maker.
Give Loop earplugs a try. They’re quite effective.

Also consider a sleep mask to block out light.

Loop earplugs didn’t work for me; I could hear everything. But I found others that really changed the game for me.
Aside from the popular suggestion of foam earplugs, maybe a gentle reminder to your family might help? Sometimes people don’t realize how loud they are. You could also hang a ‘Sleeping, please be quiet’ sign on your door.
@Avery
In my experience, even when you ask nicely, some people just react negatively and might even get louder.

I typically go to bed at 1am due to my student and teaching assistant duties, and the disturbances start at 6am every day. I’ve tried discussing it, but it didn’t help much.
Have you tried syncing your sleep schedule with your family’s? Sometimes that might help reduce the disturbance.

I’m usually up late due to my studies and work. The noise kicks in every morning at 6am. I’ve tried different brands of earplugs without much luck, but I’ll explore some of the recommended brands here.

It’s tough when schedules don’t match. Earplugs seem like your best bet until you can move out.
My family is similar; if I complain, they just suggest I wake up earlier. Earplugs and ambient noises like rain sounds have helped me. Nowadays, I often just stay at my boyfriend’s place.
Even after moving out two years ago, I still struggle to sleep peacefully because I got so used to being alert at my family’s house. It’s been really tough.
You could try getting small pads from a hardware store to put inside the door frame to prevent slamming. It’s a simple and cheap solution that worked for us.
White noise machines and headphones playing Om chanting at 432Hz have helped me. It’s not just noise reduction; it also helps lower stress.
