I need help and I can't handle it anymore

I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I need some guidance. Almost every night, as I’m about to fall asleep but still awake, something strange happens—I suddenly can’t move at all and feel stuck. I start hearing voices talking about unsettling things. This has happened before and it seemed to improve a bit, but it’s happening again and I’m really struggling to cope with it. The only thing I can do is wait it out in fear. I’m 16 and I’m at my wit’s end. I don’t know how to deal with these persistent thoughts and fears.

It sounds like you might be experiencing sleep paralysis. But hearing voices is concerning and not typically a symptom of sleep paralysis. I strongly recommend talking to a doctor as soon as you can.

Thank you, I’m really upset right now but I’ll make an appointment with a doctor soon.

You’re going through a tough time, but it’s manageable. Stay strong!

You’re welcome! :pray::hugs:

You should consider seeing a therapist or psychiatrist. There’s no shame in trying medication if it’s prescribed to you.

What you’re describing sounds like sleep paralysis. Do you sleep on your back? Try sleeping on your side instead; it might help prevent this.

I actually sleep on my stomach, and it’s not visual hallucinations but very disturbing voices. I feel paralyzed, can’t call for help, and have terrifying thoughts.

Yes, that’s sleep paralysis. I’m not sure how to help with it.

Call 988 for immediate help if you need someone to talk to.
