Any medication that works similar to Ativan for anxiety without constipating you? I have a lot of anxiety, and Ativan has been the only thing that has been helping me sleep, but it’s causing me a lot of constipation. I had to take a stimulant laxative, which messed up my stomach, and because of that, I tried taking Ativan again, but it didn’t work.
Zolpidem is amazing, but I don’t know about the constipation issue; I take too many drugs to know if it’s related.

I’ve taken it before, and my anxiety didn’t let it work, and I had a terrible headache the next day.
@Taylor
I have insane anxiety since birth, and even more since I became addicted to drugs. Zolpidem completely frees me from that and puts me in another world.

That’s awesome. I wish Ambien worked for me like that.
@Taylor
I hope you find a med that works for you.

Thanks, I hope so too.
I wouldn’t recommend Ativan, Ambien, or any of those benzo/hypnotic drugs. They are addictive, habit-forming, and eventually lead to more harm than good. I was on a journey of anxiety-related insomnia for 2 years and tried so many drugs. At the end of the day, all it took was a healthy lifestyle to beat it. No pill will do the work for you. It takes exercise, a clean diet, screen management, and just plain work. It sucks to hear, but it will take work.
@Kingsley
I’m disabled due to injuries, which are causing my anxiety to go up, so I can’t exercise. I have a clean diet, but I’m at a point where I need something to help me sleep because I’ve built up so much anxiety related to my bed. I may need to switch rooms to break that cycle, but the setup I have on my bed is the most comfortable. I would have to have the same setup in another room to see if I could break that cycle. Since I haven’t been able to break it, I need meds because every time I try to sleep on my bed, I have light sleep and wake up with my legs shaking.
Mirtazapine works for me.

3.75 - 7 mg is the only thing that helps me sleep through the night. A smaller dose for sleep is best.
