My Brain Doesn't Turn Off!

I’m deteriorating from sleep deprivation. My anxiety has been off the charts for years. I can’t turn my brain off despite my best efforts. It’s currently 6:10am and I haven’t slept since 5am-8am yesterday.

At this point I need to find stronger medications that will literally just knock me the hell out. What are some options?

Things that helped me:

  • White noise from a fan
  • Counting backwards from 500
  • Relaxation exercises
  • Letting your mind wander for a set time
  • Journaling
  • Breathing exercises
  • Sleep stories
  • Finding out it’s not anxiety but ADHD

@Zephyr
On your last point, was that through diagnosis and if so are you medicated now? I’m in the process of getting diagnosed but it takes a long time. Thanks for your comment.

My nightmare is never being able to sleep. I was almost going that route, barely getting only 3-4 hours of sleep most nights, so I took drastic lifestyle measures.

Bought blue light-blocking glasses, made both my laptop and mobile screens use the eye sensitivity red filter, stay away from screens before bed, avoid caffeine except for morning, go to the gym, and take melatonin gummies and magnesium supplements at night.

Now it’s somewhat okay, but my constant anxiety still messes with my sleep. I probably need to try meditation next.

Brother, weed, games, munchies

I just quit smoking after 7 years straight. If I don’t get over my dependency on it, I’ll never get better.

Melatonin is ok.

Meh whatever, I’ve been smoking every day for 10 years.

And that’s why, btw.

Your post should be about how to detox as a long-time stoner, then haha.

Well, it’s been two weeks. So not ‘just’ quit, but yeah, it would still be affecting me. After some years, weed didn’t help me sleep anymore; it just enhanced the activity in my brain.

@Madden
You likely have 2-8 more weeks of bad sleep ahead. God bless.

Welcome to the reasoning behind my post.
