So desperate can't sleep more than 3 hours

I’m desperately seeking help beyond the usual sleep hygiene and magnesium suggestions. For 30 years I had no issues sleeping, but ever since I stopped taking an antidepressant six months ago, my sleep has been terrible. Most nights, I wake up after just three hours. This issue has forced me to quit my job because I can’t function. Some days I’m extremely tired, yet I still can’t manage to stay asleep. Doctors suggest anti-anxiety or sleep meds, which I’m hesitant about since I never needed them before the antidepressants. I need a way through these withdrawals without relying on more medications.

You might find some relief in meditation, reading spiritual texts, and exploring cognitive behavioral therapy specifically tailored for sleep issues. These strategies helped me overcome sleep disruptions following a concussion. Remember, support is available, both spiritually and through professional guidance. Wishing you peace on your journey to better sleep.

Have you tried the Huberman sleep cocktail? I also recommend Headspace for guided meditations, YouTube sleep meditations, exposing yourself to early morning sunlight, and avoiding alcohol.

I’ve tried everything except the cocktail. What’s in it?

I’ve had similar problems ever since I stopped taking antidepressants. My sleep pattern hasn’t been the same since.

I’ve had great success with the Loóna app for managing insomnia. It’s different because it keeps your mind engaged in a calming activity which helps me relax enough to fall asleep. The app may not be developing new content, but there’s still a lot of useful features that might help.

You might want to look into whether you’re getting enough omega-3, as it’s crucial for sleep hormone production in the brain. Foods like salmon, tuna, and walnuts are good sources. Also, consider L-theanine, which can help with brain function. It’s found in green tea. I hope you find some relief soon. Blessings to you.
