Tips on sleeping when you're overthinking?

So, long story short, I’ve been dealing with an annoying issue lately, and I keep thinking about it. Now it’s affecting my sleep more and more each day until now, where I can’t sleep at all. Any tips would be really appreciated.

Mindfulness. Get an app to help train you. Eventually, something as simple as focusing on and counting your fingertips will put you to sleep. Breathing and exercise throughout the day can help handle any stress or worry.

Gotcha.

Audiobooks and going to bed at a set time. Don’t worry if you don’t go to sleep, but just go to bed.

Maybe talk out the issue you’re worried about with a friend or someone you look to for advice and/or comfort.

I have with multiple people, sadly I know the outcome already, but it’s just annoying how it’s affecting my sleep now.

One time I had a similar issue and just got up and painted out my emotions, and it was incredible. I was able to fall asleep afterwards.

Reading takes my mind off things. If it’s too bad, I cannot concentrate on anything. I’ve had to exhaust myself physically and get medicated. I’m sorry.

YouTube autoplay. Might not work super fast, but it rarely fails me.

Read good literature, especially philosophy, in bed. Ban digital devices from the bedroom entirely. Blue light messes with your melatonin. Use melatonin spray and CBD oil. Practice the 4-7-8 breathing technique, and meditate during the day to process your issues. Write down your thoughts daily to sort and clear your mind. Work out 3-4 hours before bedtime to help you fall asleep easier.

Gotcha, I’ll look into these. What’s the 4-7-8 breathing technique?

My comment was removed; please Google it, and you’ll find related articles about the 4-7-8 technique.

Do you consume caffeine? If there’s too much in your body, it can trigger wakefulness. Just saying, because I think caffeine plays a part in my sleeplessness too.

Not at all, to be honest. I only consume caffeine or energy drinks maybe once a month or every two months.

Journal about it an hour before bed.

Definitely agree on writing some thoughts about the issue. If you’re not into journaling, even jotting down key points or words about the situation can help. I call it ‘putting down my thoughts’. By writing them, I am ‘putting them down’ until tomorrow.

Try to understand the root cause. Your mind may be stuck in a loop, preventing relaxation. Create a sleep-friendly environment. Focused breathing and meditation can help. Avoid screens for at least an hour before bed. Imagine yourself in a calm place.

Will do, man. Appreciate the help.

I tell myself I’ll worry about that tomorrow at a set time, but not now, then concentrate on my breath. Relax, let it go.

Yeah, I tell myself I can worry about it another time, but I keep getting constant reminders, and it gets annoying.
