Waking Up at 2:30 AM from Nightmares Every Night—Need Advice

Hi everyone,

For about a year now, I’ve been waking up at 2:30 AM every single night, drenched in cold sweat from terrifying nightmares. I remember these dreams vividly later, and they make it really hard for me to fall back asleep. My life is very stressful (due to things outside my control), and I’ve been struggling with depression. A psychologist I saw recently actually made things worse. Unfortunately, healthcare where I live is practically nonexistent.

Months of this stress and poor sleep have wrecked my immune system—I’ve caught a virus that I can’t seem to recover from. I’m desperate for advice, especially from anyone who has been through something similar.

What helped you stop the nightmares and sleep better? I need to hear real experiences.

Thank you in advance.

Following for advice. I’m going through something similar.

This might cross over into spirituality or religion. I believe I know the cause and the cure. If you’re open to exploring that, let me know.

I have a similar issue. I get horrifying nightmares every single night, but I don’t wake up from them—they last all night and feel endless. I’ve been told my sleep apnea could be the cause. Lack of quality sleep might be contributing to your nightmares, too.

If possible, look into whether sleep apnea or another sleep disorder could be a factor.

I’m really sorry this is happening to you. This might not be what you’re expecting, but I’d suggest trying something spiritual. Ask, in the name of Jesus, for the dreams to stop. It might sound unusual, but many people have found peace this way.

Wishing you strength and healing!
