I’ve noticed a lot of people seem to only be able to sleep if they use Cannabis. It’s interesting because I see this not only in sleep-focused groups but also in very different communities, like religious ones where people feel guilty about using Cannabis. Personally, I have tons of different herbs and supplements, but nothing works quite like Cannabis, either in the form of pot brownies or a few bong hits. In this age, with all the medical advancements, it’s surprising that sleep still eludes so many, especially older individuals who often feel they need something like Cannabis every night to sleep.
It’s quite sad. People underestimate how Marijuana affects sleep. It actually suppresses REM sleep, which is essential for good rest.

Marijuana also has psychoactive effects. I used to work in psychiatric nursing, and we saw patients with marijuana-induced psychosis, which isn’t widely recognized.
@Vale
Many users won’t admit its effects. Some don’t even believe it’s a psychoactive drug.

People who deny these effects probably haven’t experienced them. I’ve been using it for 13 years without issues. I adjust my usage to avoid the side effects that come with pharmaceuticals, which can be much worse. For example, drugs like Rohypnol and Ambien have severe side effects that Cannabis does not.
@Hollis
Absolutely agree

What are your thoughts on CBD for sleep? THC makes me anxious and worsens my social interactions. A friend recommended a different strain claiming it was uplifting, but it ended up causing me severe anxiety and paranoia.
@Jory
I’ve only tried CBD with THC, so I can’t comment on pure CBD effects. When Cannabis became legal here, I overused it and it led to severe anxiety. I felt like I lost myself.

Edibles affect the body differently than smoked Cannabis. I recommend low temperature vaping for a milder effect and using edibles judiciously before bed to extend the relaxing effects through the night.
@Jory
I tried a CBD pill to help with my severe tinnitus, and it made my symptoms worse. I had to use Valium to recover from the intense anxiety it caused.

It’s important for people to understand that while some use marijuana without issues, promoting its daily use as a sleep aid can be misleading. It’s not always a positive solution.

I completely agree with you.

I find it to be a great sleep aid, better than anything else I’ve tried. It’s all about the right dose. Too much can indeed cause problems.
@Vale
Those who experience negative effects from THC are usually already prone to psychosis. It’s a known risk for those with a genetic predisposition to schizophrenia, but it’s not a widespread risk for the general population.

I’m taking a break from Cannabis as I’m training for a triathlon. I’ve realized that better sleep significantly helps with my training and weight loss.
@Marley
That’s great to hear. Good luck with your training!

I stopped using it recently and the vivid dreams and nightmares are intense. It’s like I’m catching up on all the REM sleep I missed.
@Channing
I had the same experience when I stopped. Dreams returned to normal eventually.

Cannabis helped me sleep for a while, but then I became dependent on it. When it stopped working, the anxiety and insomnia were worse than before.
@Kitt
It’s a common pattern. It works until it doesn’t.
