Consistently waking up at 3 am, solutions?

I have trouble both falling and staying asleep. CBD has helped with falling asleep, but it only keeps me asleep for about 4-5 hours. My doctor prescribed 50 mg trazodone, which I now often use at 3 am to get back to sleep. If I don’t, I just toss and turn until morning.

I lead a busy life running a business and taking care of two young kids, and I’m under constant stress. I exercise regularly, eat well, and avoid caffeine and alcohol, yet the 3 am wake-ups persist, no matter what time I go to bed. Any advice or similar experiences?

I know the feeling—I wake up to use the bathroom every night, and it’s frustrating.

Could be related to high cortisol levels.

Interesting. What can help with that? I tried ashwagandha, but it seemed to keep me up.

Magnesium triple complex might help reduce cortisol. You’d need to find out the root cause to address it properly.

Consider switching from trazodone to a Remeron prescription (1/2 of a 7.5 mg pill). Also, try apigenin and L-theanine. You’ll thank me when you start sleeping a solid 8 hours and waking up refreshed.
