I can't seem to sleep on Tuesdays—anyone else experience this?

For some reason, I can’t sleep on Tuesdays and it’s the same as any other day, yet I just can’t fall asleep. Does anyone have any insights on this?

That’s interesting because it’s now 5:22 AM here and I’m still awake, which is very unusual for me. I haven’t stayed up this late in years.

Is there something about Wednesdays that could be making you anxious? Or maybe something happens on Mondays that affects your sleep on Tuesdays?

My life is pretty routine, so I don’t think so. The only thing I have on Wednesdays is a chill youth house meeting.

Does the meeting require you to wake up early, or is it later in the day? Are there consequences for being late? Maybe you could try exercising more on Tuesdays, or check if you’re consuming anything that could affect your sleep, like caffeine or sugar.

The meeting is at 5 PM, but I have to get up at 7 AM for school and I don’t consume caffeine.

It sounds like your Mondays and Tuesdays are similar, but you sleep fine on Sunday and Monday nights. Are you spending more time in front of screens on Tuesdays, or is there a particular activity or show that might be stimulating your mind? Also, consider if there’s extra noise in your neighborhood on Tuesdays.

My weekdays are consistent. I wake up at 7 AM, except on Wednesdays when I wake up at 9 AM. I go to school, come home, do homework, take care of my brother, help with dinner, spend about three hours on my phone, then shower, read a book, and sleep. My Wednesdays involve going to the youth house from 4-9 PM, then I come home, eat, read, and sleep. It’s a very routine schedule.

I face a similar issue at the start of the week, particularly on Tuesdays and sometimes Wednesdays. I haven’t been able to figure out why, as my routine and job stress are minimal. It might be the anticipation of the week ahead.

No, I’m not on any medications.

I knew someone who couldn’t sleep on Sundays because of anxiety about the upcoming work week. It sounds like you might have developed a sort of phobia about not being able to sleep on Tuesdays. Our thoughts are powerful, and telling yourself that you can’t sleep on Tuesdays might be reinforcing the issue. Try to shift your focus away from the day itself and see if that helps.
