I’ve always slept with a fan either on my nightstand or a standing fan next to the bed since I was a child. Recently due to my heat intolerance I started using my Honeywell desk fan on my bed. My wife and I sleep on a huge cal king with plenty of room but I was curious if anyone else does this?
I’ve put a box fan right next to me in bed before

Nice
I’ve put my desktop vornado in bed with me, it was completely fine.
I would assume that could be a fire hazard.

From the internet
‘Yes, using a fan inside your sheets can be a significant fire hazard, as the trapped heat from the fan motor combined with the flammable fabric of the sheets could easily ignite, potentially causing a fire if the fan malfunctions or overheats.
Why it’s dangerous:
Overheating:
When a fan is covered by sheets, it can’t properly dissipate heat, causing the motor to overheat and potentially ignite nearby materials.
Airflow obstruction:
The sheets restrict airflow around the fan, further contributing to overheating.
Friction sparks:
The movement of the fan blades against the fabric could create friction sparks, which could ignite the sheets under the right conditions.
Important safety precautions:
Never use a fan under your covers:
Always keep fans exposed and away from bedding to ensure proper ventilation’

So inside my matress?
No
I used to have the can standing on the mattress when I had a bigger bed. Now I have a smaller mattress so the fan can stand next to the bed without being too far away.
When i used to have the fan in bed with me I would have an issue with the fan falling over, or rolling into it while I slept.
I feel sorry for your wife. lol
I tie both ends of the sheet and put the fan on the edge of the bed, almost like a bag silo, really nice for summer
