Ever since daylight savings, I’ve had a hard time sleeping more than 5 hours. My routine was to sleep by midnight and wake up around 7-8 AM. Falling asleep isn’t the issue, but I consistently wake up around 4-5 AM and can’t go back to sleep. I’ve tried improving my sleep environment and habits: no screens before bed, reading, meditating, listening to calm music, taking hot showers, getting regular exercise, and keeping the room cool. I’ve consulted my doctor, ran tests which were normal, and even tried trazodone and various supplements like magnesium glycinate, melatonin, chamomile, and L-theanine, but nothing has helped. I’ve also done a sleep study and am awaiting the results. I think stress and anxiety might be contributing since I experience heart palpitations when I wake up. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
I’ve had similar issues due to stress from work. I find that taking a break from work helps me sleep better. Maybe it’s the reduced stress.

That could be it. I’ve been working a lot more lately and have increased my workout intensity.
I’m experiencing the same thing, it’s really frustrating.
I’ve had the same issue. Taking medication when I wake up early has helped me.

Which medications do you use? Ambien?

I use Zopiclone, similar to Ambien but it’s more common here in the UK.

I might try Ambien then. My uncle is a doctor and can prescribe it for me. I know it helps with falling asleep but not sure about maintaining sleep.

It’s short-acting but you could try taking one at bedtime and another if you wake up too early. Just be careful with the dosage to avoid dependence.
I’m facing the same problem! It’s tough because even small things like getting up to pee can disrupt my sleep. I’ve tried everything from sleeping earlier, blocking out all light, wearing a sleep mask, using ear plugs, adjusting the aircon, and even getting a new mattress, but nothing helps extend my sleep past 5-6 hours.

It’s crucial to ensure good oxygen levels in your room. Constantly changing your sleep environment (like temperature or bedding) might be making it worse by stressing your body. Try to sync your wake-up time with natural light daily and try not to stress too much about falling back asleep. Sometimes accepting wakefulness and practicing relaxation can help more than you think.
Your sleep cycle might be off. Light therapy in the morning could help reset your internal clock. Also, relying too much on supplements could lead to a dependency. Sometimes, simpler solutions work better.
