Brown noise, pitch black, weighted blanket. Can’t sleep without any of those
That’s a solid sleep setup!

Getting enough socializing in during the day

It’s interesting how this affects our circadian rhythm

Interesting… Do you find that it helps you relax more at night, or is there another way it influences your rest?

If it’s a positive experience and not too close to when I sleep, I feel calmer
Honestly? Broke up with my toxic ex and changed my job to something that didn’t stress the shit out of me.

Bravo! That’s a huge step!!!
Brushing my teeth. I know it should be normal anyway but every time I’m too lazy I wake up in the middle of the night or early morning with a foul taste in my mouth - and I somehow fall asleep faster.

It’s like a mini ritual that signals to your brain it’s time to wind down, plus it helps avoid that uncomfortable wake-up with a gross taste in your mouth.
Cut out caffeine completely. Added half hour to hour of REM sleep for a given total amount. Added a half hour of deep sleep for a given total amount of sleep. I also fall asleep instantly now after years of taking hour/hours to asleep every night.
Some ration of vitamin D and magnesium glycinate also helped before cutting caffeine. But nothing helped for longer than a few days like cutting caffeine did. This is going on a few months now.
The one thing that has improved myself tremendously is tracking what I’m doing each day in the free OptiSelf Sleep app!
I go to bed early. 2100 is fine! Once ensconced, with a book and glass of water, I tire quickly. Sometimes meta sound waves on a timer. I’m sleep deprived during work cycles so always catching up; melatonin helps. I naturally wake up 0500-0730, and truly appreciate down time between gigs. xo
I take a Niacin capsule before bed. The niacin hot flush makes me warm and tires me out. Also it lowered my triglycerides are now normal again.

How long have you been doing this?
@Kelby
About 4 months taking Niacin.
I take magnesium chloride (Nigari in Japanese) every day a small teaspoon in a glass of apple juice, it helps with sleep as well as constipation

Did you try any other forms of magnesium?
@Kelby
No
Ever since I got the Oura ring 4+ years ago my sleep schedule has gotten a lot better.
Just getting a report on how you slept how much deep and REM sleep you got, your breathing (helped with tracking SPO2) and made me make sure I got enough sleep
If I went to sleep later I would check my report first thing and just sleep in another hour or two till I got the numbers up. (I work at home).
A couple of times it has warned me that my temp was slightly elevated and heart rate too and I should get rest. I didn’t listen and both times it got much worse and I had to take a couple of days off.
After that I’ve learned to listen.
Not an advert - just a very satisfied user.
@Skyler
I love how you’ve found that balance between tracking and adjusting your sleep habits based on the insights it gives you. And the fact that it’s helped you recognize when to take it easy and avoid burnout shows how powerful that feedback can be! Thanks for sharing your experience!
